Epoxy floors are are critical in Garage and other areas that take heavy abuse or need hot tire resistance. Epoxy Paint does not work. There are different grades or Epoxy Polymers. Some client’s believe , it’s just a cheap roll on paint that cost 3 dollars per square foot. That is not the case. High Solid Epoxy Resin is not paint not a polymer, this is when applied properly it can last for long periods of time. Painted floors don’t last, and will de-laminate over a quick period of time.
Our Model
Pink’s Concrete Designs model is do it once or don’t do it at all. There are Solvent based Epoxy, water based epoxy, and many others including Polyaspartics, that can dry in a quick time period. We also carry Metallic Epoxies which are more decorative. We manufacture out of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. These coatings can be critical in what is chosen. Years ago the industry was not over saturated. Now you have every painting company or handyman, thinking they have the experience as Pink’s to apply. Sometimes looking for a quick buck, or sometime just looking for a job.
Pink’s Concrete Design has 3 commercial projects that we are looking at that have failed because incompetence. Mixing the product incorrectly, roller marks and many other concrete floor issues. A major is moisture mitigation. All Concrete Floors in Fairfield county should be calcium chloride tested. The client may think that there is no problem with moisture with with weather changed during freeze, and thaw, this can be a disaster costing much more. Now we have 6000 square feet of de-laminating in Greenwich CT, done by other contractor that the client needs to spend double the price to diamond grind the floor then apply the proper concrete coatings. With any Epoxy Floor we can get in and out with in one or 4 days.
